He pleaded guilty and was fined $50. Chinese, Chou Lo, was prosecuted for running a gambling house. He was fined $25. The 4 gamblers were fined $10 each. 5.Chinese, Ho Shing, was prosecuted for selling gambling tickets. He was fined $50. News from Other Cities 1.Victoria: The regulation re: registration of birth has been revised. The baby must now be registered 30 days after birth instead of the original 60 days. This, in effect, is to make things difficult for immigrants. 2.***: Rich merchant, Chu ***, who had lived here for over 30 years, passed away suddenly at the Freemasons convention.
