Description
November 28th, Tuesday P.3 News from Toronto: The Labour and Commerce Association in Toronto had suggested prohibiting mixed employment of Chinese and female whites. Ambassador Yeung then negotiated the case with the authorities in Toronto. The excuse the Canadians used against the Chinese was that they might be sexually immoral against the female whites. Ambassador Lim then guaranteed that Chinese were always self- disciplined and he stressed that if there was the exclusion of Chinese from working with female whites, all Chinese Canadians would become unemployed. Consequently, the Canadian authority decided that the Labour Union would be prohibited from raising such labour exclusion proposals in the provincial legislature.
