-23- CHINESE TIMES 1950 JY April 24 Monday p,7 1) Jung Wan Hospital - Victoria - the fund drive termination meeting had been held. Over $5000 was raised for equiping the hospital. The excess money would be for the charity cemetary and an audit-group would be formed to supervise the account, p.8 2) Chung Shan Lung Chung Locality - Vancouver - meeting on April 23 to discuss the 9th anniversary on May 14. A preparation committee had bean set up. The association had also visited the Chinese hospital on May 7. 3) Toysun Association - Victoria - executive meeting on April 23 -Hgeneral gathering dinner would be held on May 7. April 25 Tuesday p.l 1) Fan Tan issue - Tai On Clubs Case had been dropped, however, Fan-tan was still regarded as illegal. P.2 2) Victoria news - 24th;over 2700 Chinese signed petition for equality and relaxed immigration law. P.8 3) YWCA - more fund raising. April 26 Wednesday ,. ^ „ P.8 1) CBA - Foon Sien had appealed to the new special Senate Cttee ( Y 1fflC^q^£~ $t ) which was set up on March 10/50 to investigate the issue of human rights. Foon Sien got support from the Human Rights Association (Vancouver) which had their own brief(Human Rights Association brief was posted an Vancouver Sun.) 2) jfy 'i'/A of Edmonton Alberta was murdered by Mrs. Marie Smith and Consul General '^in Vancouver had consulted the police department to catch the murderer. 3) YWCA - the Chinese YWCAchad been set up 1949 and there was a fund drive together with the H.Q. for establishment of a new building. April 27 Thursday P. 7 1) CBA Victoria - inauguration ceremony on April 25 - description (Ap.28 P.7) 2) Freemason Div. H.Q. announced that l^i^Q^j Revolutionary hero celebration day would be on May 7. All branches were encouraged to hang the association flag and hold commemoration parties. P.8 3) Oylin H.Q. - Vancouver - 24th anniversary would be on May 14. Member of Chee Duck Tong and Sam Duck Tong were welcomed. April 28 Friday P.8 1) CBA - Vancouver - supported YWCA fund drive by asking Chinese School students to help collect donations on April 30. 2) Cheung Wah Football - matches. 3) CBA Victoria - announced that new executive was chosen.
