- Freemason Vancouver - a meeting on Jan. 29. 43 Restrictive Immigration law Abolishment Cttee - a description of the Jan. 26 general meeting. The names of 12 organizations which did not attend on Jan. 26 were announced so that they would send reps, on Feb. 1. The letter to Chiang Kai-shek was as follows: The Chinese in Canada had suffered the restrictive immigration laws for 24 years due to the inability of the previous government. Now, after the war, the position of China was raised. Thus, it was hoped that the external affairs dept. could negotiate with the Canadian government for betterment of Chinese Canadians. During the signing of the Chinese-Canadian treaty, the government should fight for improvement of conditions for Chinese. Co-chairman Chinese War Relief Assoc. - remineded the readers that there were still 700 National Salvation tickets to be picked, up by the owner. A name list of the buyers was posted. Chinese Chamber of Commerce - 2 announcements: a) farewell for ; b) Jan. 18, an executive meeting was held re: the 43 restrictive Immigration Law report, i.e. ON Jan. 6, the members of the 43 immigration law abolishment consulted with Consul General and the Consul about their response to the law. They suggested that P.R. ( ) strategy should be used to persuade the MP and MLA's and various associations about the irrationality and defects of the law. They said the superficial work like sending briefs may not be effective. The Cttee then suggested to contact the Chinese Canadian United Association, the legal advisor of the Consul General (who would work voluntarily) and start publishing flyers, setting up banquets, speeches, and sending in articles to newspapers. The estimated ($500) cost would be paid by Chamber of Commerce. Fund raising had also started to raise operational expenses. - a farewell party was held on Jan. 26 for 3 members. Hon Sing Athletic Club - a farewell party was held for 2 staff who were returning to China. Mah Kam Chee H.Q. Van. - a photo was posted showing the 2 presidents and the treasurer handing $500 to the treasurer of the Canadian Aid to China Association.
