- General meeting in Vancouver - was held on Jan. 26 - a name list of reps, from each association was posted for reference. Mah Kam Chee H.Q. Van. Jan. 26 - was thespring festival celebration. $500 raised for Chinese War Relief fund. Oylin Kung Sore - spring festival party was held on Jan. 26th. CBA sent a brief together with the 43 restrictive immigration laws back to the Chinese superivision Dept. and external Affairs Department in June 1936. CBA now received a reply from the supervision Dept. ( ) stating that the Dept. had ordered the Ambassador in Ottawa to continue with the negotiation and fight for equality. Kong Chow H.Q. ( ) a farewell party was held for a group 6f leaving for China. Yu Shan School, Victoria - the new teacher , arrived in Van., a welcoming party would be held for him. 14 Chinese gamblers who were arrested previously were fined $5, but the head was fined $100. Shon Yee H.Q. held a faneral ceremony for an old Chinese. Chinese Ambassador at Ottawa , recently released an article saying the Chinese gov't was concerned aboutthe abolishment of the Immigration law. Abolishment of the : • law would bring China and Canada closer to each other. Princeton news - an old Chinese was killed on Jan. 27 in a fight by a white truck driver who was charged with murder. Canadian Aid to China - Mr. Harry James ( ) donated $100 for the fund drive. He also showed appreciation to the chairman, Major-General Victor W. Odlun for his concern with inviting Chinese students to study at UBC. He hoped that Odium would urge the changes of the Chinese exclusion Bill.
