Description
Wong She (-^| ), owner of a Chinese restaurant, was robbed of $10,000 owrth of jewelery and cash. Wilson's report to the City Council concerning the business owned by E. Asians. In the report: 1539 have permits for various businesses, about 9% of the total permits issued in 1939. In 1937, Japanese owned $827 permits and the Chinese 712. 94% of the vegetable stores and cleaning stores were owned by E. Asians, mostly by Chinese. Other lousinesses which were engaged were tailers, 58%; pharmacy, 22%; fish shops, 53%; sweets, 24%; bathing places, 59%; barber shops, 25%; Man's wear, 21%; chicken and ducks, 53 restaurants, 21%, pais peddlars, 687e.
