Description
In the colourful and soundful processions, the Wongs raised $590 refugee relief funds. Headquarter of Lee's Ass. celebrated its 8th anniversary yesterday. Another Chinese home was robbed about $500. A public announcement from the CBA concerning the riot against the CBA the other night: The CBA represents all the Chinese in Canada. Although the business was not good at all before 1936 due to the irresponsible functionaries, . Since 1936 all the functionaries have been very active and enthusiastic and have a lot of achievements, such as paying off the old debts, securing welfare funds to form the Chinese Health Ass. and protesting against the Waitress Act. When the War of Resistance intensified in 1938, the CBA and the Resisting Ass. together formed military Fund Raising Ass., Bonds Selling Ass., and Refugee Relief Fund Bureau (as a branch of the Bonds Selling Ass.). The achievements of these activities and the contributions the functionaries of the CBA have made are very well appreciated by all the Chinese. As for the result One Bowl of Rice Movement, functionaries of the CBA had also helped it in all possible ways though of course certain mistakes might have been made unwittingly by them. In any case, it was very unfortunate that our people were agitated by a handful of scoundrels to abuse Consul- Pao ('tjfL^^^ ) tne functionaries and to damage the CBA building. The CBA is the or- ganization of all the Chinese of Canada. Its building is the building of us all. Those who abused the CBA, damaging the building are insulting all the Chinese, hence will be punished. a>.
