Description
In a meeting of the Chee Kong Tong, Freemasons Athletic Club, Dart Coon Club, and Freemasons Resisting Ass., the four associations of the Fremmasons, they decided that plays and lion dances will be performed to raise money for refugee relief on the 27th. The Resisting Ass. conducted a memorial meeting of the Aug. 13th day - the day of Shiang-hai War. Foon Sien made a report on the issue of Republic Hotel. Foon Sien said the Hotel was bought by Wong Chan-hua (-^ Jt) ) not from a Japanese, but from a European Canadian as was stated by a lawyer on behalf of the Resisting Ass. before. Foon Sien also said the saying that there were functionaries of the Resistng Ass. had blackmailed the present owner Wong Chan-hua for $30 was false. It was a rumor. Victoria: (European) Canadians and Chinese protested against shipping used iron to Japan for making weapans. An announcement by the owner of the Republic Hotel saying the same things as was reported by Foon Sien . An announcement from the Resisting Ass. announcing the discharge of the 'trouble-maker* and 'war of resistance underminer' Wong Tsuo-su ). A picture of Wong accompanied the announcement.
