- An announcement from the Freemasons Resisting Ass- said that every Freemason had to buy $5 gold bonds at least. - An open letter fo the Resisting Ass. and the CBA from Wong Chuo-su Committee Member of the Resisting Ass., Aug. 4, 1939 In your letter of Aug. 2 your requested me to explain to you on the 6 Aug. the points I made in my speech of July 2. Unfortunately I had to leave Vancouver on Aug. 5 for work, hence I was not able to explain my speech to you. Essentially what I have said iH that speech was among the over 200 functionaries of the United Resisting Ass., there were about half a dozen scoundrels who spoiled the whole thing. My criticisms were directed to them, not to all the functionaires. As for who those scoundrels are, for obvious reasons I am not going to name them. But I would like to point out certain things they have done. 1. The issue of Republic Hotel (^faitfyj^ ): After a few months of suspending in the air, some scoundrels have suggested a prize of $30 to settle the issue. (This whole thing needs to be cleaned.) 2. There are scoundrels acting as patrons to a big Washing and Cleaning Sho p to buy wood from a Japanese Company. 3. Since the founding of the United Resisting Ass. huge amounts of money has been raised. Have you made public any of your balance sheets? These are but a rough account of three of the issues. If you are not prepared to clear them, especialy the last issue, all the Chinese in Canada will ceetainly denounce you as scoundrels. Not just me. Now if this letter and its rough accounts fail to impress you, I will be more than willing to explain in detail to the public after I finish my work and come back to Vancouver. High platform may be prepared for me to stand onto and to speak in a mass meeting if you so wish and were not ashamed to have those things made public that way. On this occasion of national crisis, such a 'cinical j»alyboy' like me is made willing to obey public opinions.
