- Spokesman of the Chinese Councelar says: Some troubles in Lethbridge ( ) arose from collecting gold bonds money, has been around for months. The councelor has tried to help settle the arguments. In early April, members of Calgary Resisting Ass. tried to persuade the Lethbridge ( ) Resisting Association to join* the United Resisting Ass. The latter refused and ended up with a fight. A letter signed by 128 Chinese in ( ) said they did not want to join the United Resisting Ass. Foon Sien and the councelor went to Lethbridge on April 4 and they found that there was about 200 Chinese in Lethbridge. They have bought Patriotic Bonds $CH 40,000, Gold bonds $4700, Military contributions of $CH 7000 and Airplane fund $CH 7500. This was a tremendous achievement. But they strongly opposed to be incorporated into the United Resisting Association of Alberta. They wanted to have their own Resisting Association. On the other hand, the ^ouncelor also went to Calgary and the Chinese there said that the Chinese in Edmonton, Calgary, ( ) ^jf-J^- » ( ) , and ( ) ^ > have all got together and formed a United Resisting Ass. Why should those people in Lethbridge be an exception? They insisted to have the Lethbridge Chinese join the United Resisting Ass. They will use all possible means to achieve that, including voilence and legal actions. So, the Councellor, was unable to come out with a satisfactory solution. The fighting and injuries will be settled in the court. But it is the hope of the Councellor that a peaceful solution will soon be arrived at. A Chinese was killed while lumbering. ( ) j£ 2/ ^ : The results of their Spring campaigns of Bonds selling and Relief Fund Raising. $1,425 Gold Bonds were sold. $210 Relief Fund were raised. A list of names of buyers and donors.
