Description
May 5 - Chinese Woman's Ass. finished their refugee relief fund raising. The sum raised in all the tea parties was about $2191.58. - A long announcement from the Resisting Ass. in Kelowna ( $3 ). It may be summarized as follows: The decision made by the Resisting Ass. concerning the business relationship with the Japanese was not clear. The decision was to cut off all ecenomic relationships with the Japanese on the one hand, but on the other hand, selling daily commodities to the Japanese was allowed. Here in Kelowna, Chinese community and the Japanese community are next to each other. The decision caused certain confusion. Therefore, the Resisting Ass. here has made a general poll to decide whether to cut off all the economic relations with the Japanese or just to boycott their products. The majority (140 to 62) decided to cut off all the relationship. Some merchants pleaded that to boycott and thus to weaken the economic power of the Japanese goods, but to set up a rule not to sell Chinese goods to the Japanese may not be as wise. "The reason was the more more money we make, the we can contribute to the war." The Resisting Ass. had discussed their plee several times but the decision was still the same. All offenders shall be punished. Their names will be published on the Chinese Newspapers.
