August 31 - The Freemasons celebrate the upraising date of their founders on Aug.30. The anti-Japanese sentiment was the story of the meeting. The Resisting Association had a general meeting at the Far East Theater yesterday. Everyone who spole on the occassion expressed his appeal to support the Resistance War. Foon Sien briefed on the latest news of the war. 51Chinese were fined $5 each for gambling. Nanaimo: A Resisting the Japanese Association was founded yesterday and starts its fund raising campaign. (August, "The local news" column on page 3 carries a report of the latest state of war that was provided through the Chinese Council by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs everyday.).
