Local News 1.Hong-kong Kung-pao: list of new shareholders 2.Customs officers received large quantities of opium from a Chinese woman’s trunks. The woman was arriving by ocean liner, Alaskan Queen. 3.The body of a Chinese youth was found on the beach of English Bay. It was suspected that the youngster had mental disorder. 4.Chinese, Yueng, was prosecuted for running a gambling house. The defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined $50. The 4 gamblers were fined $10 each. 5.According to the Province, customs officers had received $250,000 worth of opium. Thus, the living quarters of Chinese sailors are now subject to serious inspection. News from Other Cities 1.Winnipeg: On April 18, a “welcome” flag suddenly appeared at one of the doors on a street. The over-seas Chinese in the area thought that the National Party must have a big celebration. But actually the truth was one of the members, Liu, was being released from jail that day. 2.Kamloops: A Chinese restaurant owner, Ma Wah, was injured by a burglar who broke into his living quarter in the restaurant. Liu was hit on the head. The burglar, however, left without taking anything for fear of waking other people.
