- Local News 1.Chinese, Ah Yig, was prosecuted for begging. He pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 2 weeks imprisonment. A Canadian, Smith, was prosecuted for beating Chinese, Yueng Li. He was found guilty, and was fined $50. Chinese, Li Wah, was prosecuted for running a whorehouse. The defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined $25. Chinese, Yueng So, was prosecuted for serial offense. He was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment. 2.Chinese, Lai Yig, was prosecuted for selling opium. He was found guilty and was sentenced to 1 year imprisonment. He also fined $250. News from Other Cities 1.New York: Tax officers are investigating the books of Chinese restaurants. 2.Winnipeg: 5 Chinese were arrested for drug offense.
