- Local News 1.Chinese, Ah Ou, was arrested for running a gambling house. He pleaded guilty and was fined $50. The 3 gamblers were fined $10 each. News From Other Cities 1.Victoria: The bylaw of concentrating agricultural products has failed to be accepted for the second time. 2.New Westminster: Chinese, Tam Chou, was prosecuted for beating merchant, Liu Fong in Chinatown on Sunday. He was fined $20. 3.Victoria: 18 stores, which had *** machines, were prosecuted for operating as gambling houses. Included in them were several Chinese stores. Apart from 1 store, which belonged to a Canadian woman, had been fined $25, the rest would be postponed to April 8.
