Local news 1.The Chinese government announced last year that a certain kind of currency, ***, would be cancelled. However, the revolution had not yet completed, and the society was unstable. Since the government still accepts ***, the Chinese stores in Vancouver suffer badly. Chinese merchants had now asked the Chamber of Commerce to negotiate with the Chinese gov’t (Included are letters and reply from the Chamber of Commerce to the Chinese gov’t). 2.CBA: Yu-chan Chong-hou Tong (***) donated $10 for unemployed Chinese. 3.A Chinese, Wah Sheng, was prosecuted for running a gambling house. He was fined $50. The 4 gamblers were fined $10 each. News from Other Cities 1.Chilliwack: CKT – spring banquet 2.***: Due to a quarrel, 3 Chinese gangsters started a fight. One of them was arrested. The other two were each fined $10.
