- local news 1. A Chinese was arrested for a drug abuse. He was sentenced to jail for a year and was fined $300. At the end of this period in prison, he was to leave the country. He appealed. The judge has. now released him. He also did not have to pay the judge. 2. A Chinese distributor Tam ( ) was prosecuted for selling potatoes in Vancouver without paying the B.C. Agricultural committee. Tam appealed; the case was detained. 3. A burglar broke into a Chinese ±h household and took $15. Two Chinese grocery stores were also broken into. News from other cities 1. Montreal: the )c%^4fiJ?€^$of the Chinese Hospital - altogether 6,852 books were sold; each book contains 7 tickets, and each ticket costs $5. Altogether $34,260 were obtained. $24000 was left after deducting the costs. The result of the draw is: first prize: 3714; second prize: 9957; third price 80429 and fourth price: 91774. (???).
