- 4. A Chinese was prosecuted for running a gambling joint. He was fined $50. The 3 gamblers were fined $10 each. Another Chinese was prosecuted for the same offence. He was also fined $50, and the gamblers fined $10 each. 2 Chinese were prosecuted for selling gambling tickets • One was fined $50; the other one was not fined because he was old. 5. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Man-Shun Drug Store ( .^J^^^b) ) will hold a one-month sale. News from other cities 1. Cumberland: The Dart-Coon Club ( ) held a party to celebrate the acquittal of Hung-chung News ( ) personnel. 2. Victoria: Owing to the mechanization of mining, a lot of Chinese miners lost their jobs. The available jobs are mostly occupied by white miners. However, Chinese miners have not left Canada because of this. A lot of them have turned to farming. 3. Victoria: the CKT Ching-ngo School (IX'/^^^^^i^^L) and the Chinese Public School ( are going to participate in the charity show organized by the Chinese Christian Church.
