1. A Chinese was arrested for operating a gambling house. He was fined ?iU. The 3 gamblers were fined $10 each. A CMnese was arrested for wandering in the streets, and was sentenced to 2 months in prison. Another one was prosecuted for battery. He was fined $20 and 5 days in jail. 2 Chinese were prosecuted for selling gambling tickets; they were fined $50 each. Another Chinese was prosecuted for running a gambling house and fined $50. The 4 gambalers were fined $10 each. News from other cities 1. Victoria: The CKT Reading Club ( ^Jlt^r%>$ j&- ) held its 63rd meeting of public speaking. 2. Winnipeg: A group of people belonging to the Chang team ( ^ ) has been formed to beat the leftists. They have also been disturbing Chinese stores and clubs. 3. New York: the CKT and Constitutional Party held a tea party to welcome the representative of the Constitutional Party ( ); Mr.Li Mai-chan ( 4. Nanaimo: A Chinese stove tender ( ) committed suicide because the $100 bill which he was carrying fell accidentally into a fire. He has been saved and a policeman was sent to look after him in the hospital in case he sought to end his life again.
