- Chinese Wong Hing ( 3ft ) was prosecuted for attempted murder. The plaintiff, Wong Kuan ( ^ *VJ ) has now changed the charge to battery. A Chinese was prosecuted for running a gambling house. He appealed, but the High Court decided that the district Court should look after this matter. 2 Chinese were arrested for operating gambling houses. They were fined $50 each. The 9 gamblers found in the 2 houses were fined $10 each. San Francisco: The fund raising committee of Tung-Wan Hospital (Jfr^f U£ is attempting to raise $200 thousand. The Chinese here are enthusiastic and generous in their donations. Victoria: a Chinese was prosecuted for not paying his income tax. He was fined $25.
