Description
1. The CKT in New York is organizing a convention to be held on May 15. The CKT here has elected a representative to attend the convention. 2. A Chinese (Leung) was not permitted to register to go back to China because he lost his tax form. Leung ( ^ ) appealed to the High Court, stating that he lost his tax form, However, further inquiry by the judge revealed that Leung had not really worked. He obtained his income nainly by gambling. 3. The soccer team of the Chinese Students' Sports Assoc. (^<^^"^^> will have a match with the University of B.C. 4. The police raided a hotel room and found 64 cans of opium; 2 Chinese were arrested for possession of opium. They are now awaiting hearing. I. A Chinese was prosecuted for running a gambling house. He pleaded guilty and was fined $50. The 9 gamblers were released on paying a fineof $15 each. News from other cities 1. New Westminster ( ): the police raided 2 Chinese gambling houses and arrested 3 Chinese. They were prosecuted for running a gambling house, but they have been released about paying $50 bail. They are now awaiting trial.
