- 1. A Chinese was arrested for running a gambling house. He was fined $50, and 2 gamblers were arrested and fined $10 each. News from other citites 1. Cumberland: Lun-ying Book store ( fffy fcfy ) election for new officers. 2. Victoria: There is a dispute between white potato growers and the B.C. Agricultural Committee ( ) owing to the regulations controlling the distribution of Potatos. The regulations were originally set up to discriminate against Chinese growers. Altogetherl500 Chinese growers and distributors were forced to leave the country since the regulations were effective. However, white growers have also been affected. The white farmers thus asked that these regulations be abolished. No conclusion has yet been reached. 3. Victoria: 2 Chinese cases concerning drugs have been forwarded to the High Court, but there is still no trial as yet.
