February 26 local news 1. The Japanese have joined with the Chinese to boycott a certain department store here which discriminates against Asians. 2. A Chinese was prosecuted for selling opium. He was sentenced for one year in jail and fined $300. He has hired a lawyer and appealed. The case will be tried again on March 6. 3. A Chinese was arrested for opening a gambling house. He was fined $50. The 6 gambling men were fined $15 each. News from other cities 1. Victoria: Provincial Assemblyman suggested that the marriage law should be revised. Intermarriage between whites and yellows should not be permitted. 2. Nanaimo: the CKT will celebrate its 21st anniversary on March 9. It will also commemorate the 5-ancestors ( "^B- ) on that day. 3. San Francisco: Mr. Mai LaT7-fong ( ) will perform here.
