- 1. The CKT ( ) will have a general meeting tomorrow. All new members welcome. 2. The Freemasons H.Q. ( ffc #%Jffc) and Hong Kong Kung-pao ( ) held a farewell party for Mr. Tsao Lun-sum ( % ), the manager editor of the paper, yesterday. 3. Chinese Wong Wah ( "$( ^ ) and 3 others escaped to Chicago in April, 1928. They have been recaptured. According to Canadian sources, merchant Wong Wah was prosecuted for selling opium in March/28 and sentenced to 2 years in jail, fined $350 and court fees. Wong was released after paying $10,000 bail. He appealed, but disappeared before the next trial. 4. The H.Q. of the CKT in Canada announced that the request for the 5th convention has been approved. Members should pay a 50c publishing fee each. 5. New regulations re issuance of visas, Chinese Consulate (see Feb.6 J.ocal news(l)): e- once the visa holder has returned to China, the visa will be invalid. f. Foreigners who wish to obtain visas for China should apply directly to the Chinese Embassy or the Consulates. g. Foreigners applying for visas should fill in 2 sets of application forms. Visas issued should be in triplicate. h. The application fee should be uniform for all Consulates in a particular country. i. The Consulate should not issue any visa if the applicant carries illegal material. If this is discovered after the issuance of the bisa, the officer(s) responsible should inform the Customs immediately. j. Those Chinese who do not possess returning passports or visas and those foreigners who do not have visas should be detained at the Customs. k. The Consulates should make an official record of all the visas and passports issued and fees received every 3 months. 1. The Consulates should take serious action against those people who have illegal or fake passports/visas. m. These regulations are subject to change. n. The above regulations are affective immediately. News from other cities 1. Cumberland: Freemasons spring banquet. 2. New Westminster: an elderly Chinese at Fraser Mill was arrested for possession of drugs. It is said that 100 packages of opium were found in his house. 3. Victoria: CBA held an executive meeting last Wednesday to discuss urgent issues.
