- 1. A westerner stole a chicken from a chicken and duck store while the shopkeeper was having supper. But the chicken cackled noisily, which alarmed the shopkeeper and the theif was arrestd. A few days ago, the Yau partyheld 7 people from the Li party as captives. In return, the Li party captured 4 people from the Uay party on the 21st. They will be released after the party paid $50 for each of them. 3. San Francisco: at present, the executives and officers of the Hung-Moon Review Morning Post ( ) were all temporary. The new functionaries were elected on January 19 at the cba office. 4. San Francisco: Mr. Leung Yam-Ruu ( ) passed away for exactly a year on January 18. The members of the Constitutional Party commemorated his death, on Jan. 19. 5. Victoria: Chinese wrestler, Wing Hay ( ), is going to have a bout with an American wrestler this Saturday. 6. Victoria: the 4 Chinese who were prosecuted for possessing drugs appeared for trial in the High Court on Jan.21. Their lawyer argued that since the drugs were found on the ocean liner and not on the people, there was no proof that they were carrying drugs. 7. Victoria: 2 Chinese and a German were arrested in an opium joint. They were tried on Jan.20. All pleaded guilty. One Chinese was sentenced to 6 months in jail and was fined $200. The other two were sentenced to 2 months and fined $50 each.
