1. The H.Q. of Kong-chow Hui-kuan ( ) celebrated its fifth anniversary yesterday. 2- Hoi-ping Hui-kuan ( ) held a banquet to celebrate the new year yest. 3. Low-kong kung-so ( ): duty handover between old and-new officers. 4. Lam Ko-muk Assoc. ( ) has developed a great deal since its establishment, and has set up a reading club ( ) for its members. Yesterday, the day for duty handover of officers in the Reading Club. It was followed by a spring feast at Peking Restaurant ( ). 5. ihe Province newspaper discriminates against Chinese People! An article published in the paper yesterday states that white people in B.C. do not only have to compete with the whites in other parts of Canada in the agricultural and business sectors, they have to compete with the Chinese in the province, too. Moreover, although generally the Chinese are law abiding, their habits are a bad source of influence to Canadians. The article urges the government to take action against the Chinese. Since the intention of the Chinese is to exhaust the wealth and resources of the country, they are not an asset to Canada and should be rid of them as soon as possible. 6. The funeral of Mr. Li ( ) was held two days ago. 7. A Chinese laundry was robbed by a fellow, who was disguised as a policeman, on Saturday. News from other cities: 1. Edmonton: the CKT held a general meeting to welcome Mr. Li Mai-chau ( ) on Jan.12- 2. Victoria: Owing to different opinions re the change of the chief editor, the executives of the New China Post ( ) have divided into 2 groups. In the general meeting last night, the two teams had a feud, as a result of which some people wereinjured.
