AUGUST 27d (WEDNESDAY) P.3 1) It was reported that more than 20 bureaus for raising funds for Kai Ping High School were set over Canada. The H.Q. in Vancouver had just received $1100 from the branch in P.3 2) It was reported on the English newspaper that the Chinese had made a. lot of money through operating illegal gambling joints which were now often found in places other than Chinatown. P.3 3) News from VICTORIA. A memorial service for a prominent merchant who died in April in Hong Kong had been held on August 24 at CBA. P.3 4) CKT (LETHBRIDGE). Names of executives. President: P.2 5) CKT (VICTORIA). 2 announcements were made. a. For those branches who had not yet sent in the names of caddidates for going to Shanghai to take part in the construction of the 5-ancestor temple were requested to do so before September 1. A final election would be held on Sept. 15. The $2000 starting fund raised by the Chinese Canadians would be brought back to Shanghai by . b. The branches were requested to subsidize the travelling expenses for who was reappointed to travel across Canada to raise funds for building the 5-ancestor temple. P.3 6) CKT (VICTORIA). An announcement that a 2nd cross Canada general convention would be held on October 10, the opening day of the new building of the Lethbridge branch. All branches were requested to send regresentatives to Lethbridge on that day. a. Food and accomodation would be provided by Lethbridge branch, but not the kk travelling expenses. b. All members had to pay 50c £xm the general convention before Oct. 1. c. was chosen to collect such fees and to propagate the coming of the general convention.
