- JULY 2 (WEDNESDAY) 1) Ti Shing Shon Yee Association (VANCOUVER). In the general meeting held on July 1, speeches concerning the injustice and humiliation faced by the Chinese in Can- ada were made. t- (VANGOUVER ). A meeting was held on July 1 at the Chinese Theatre. Speeches were made by , , , , , , , , ,etc. At the same time, a number o f representatives were sent out to look for any Chinese who refused to observe .the Chinese Humiliation Day as planned by CBA. Upon finding any defiants, their names would be published in the newspaper for public acknowledgement. All Chinese were advised to do the following on July 1: a. Wear badges which signified their fury and discontent towards the Chinese immmigration law. b. Posters should be hung up on the windows of the stores. c. The national flag should not be raised. d. There should be no participation in parades or other functions organized by the Canadians for celebrating the Dom;inion Day. It was reported that the Chinese had been abiding by the above mentioned. No Chinese was found watching the parade. 3) CKT (LETHBRIDGE). & ware warmly welcomed by the assoc- iation. Banquets and speeches were held. Among the guests were the city mayor, police chief, the president of and some lawyers and doctors. More than $500 was raised for establishing the 5-ancestor temple. Ti Shing Shon Yee Association (CALGARY). A celebration for its opening ceremony was held on June 29. Formerly, it was only a communication centre, however due to its gradual expansion, a branch association was set up. Among the guest in the ceremony were Consul general Lim , ,(who represented Ti Shing Shon Yee H.Q. in Vancouver), (Shon Yee Association in Victoria), and representatives from Kuomingtang, CKT, Dart Coon, Youth Ass., Chinese school, and other clan associations. P.3 4) p.3 5) CRT (CRANBROOK AND SASKATOON ). Great welcome was given to , etc. The members were enthusiastic in donating funds for building the 5- ancestor temple. P. 3 6) News from Victoria. The Chinese were found to be very cooperative in observing Chinese Humiliation Day. All Chinese stores had put out notices which weregiven by CKA stating that the stores were closed for a day due to the Chinese Hum. Day. In addition, badges were distributed to Chinese in Chinatown, banners hung in the Chinese associations to remind the members of great humiliation, p.3 7) CRT (DUNCAN). Speeches were made on Chinese Humiliation Day. P.3 8) Chinese Public School, School and School (VICTORIA). A joint meeting was held on July 1 at CBA. Speeches made by students and guests. p 3 9) f the chief editor of Chinese Times announced his resignation because he was going back to China . P.3 10) The fund raix* raising bureau for Rai Ping High School (LETHBRIDGE, CALGARY AND BANFF) urged people to raise funds for the travelling expenses of and since it was inappropriate to use funds that was to be used to build the school.
