JUNE 9 (MONDAY) P.I l) A continuation of the comment on the Chinese immigration laws in Canada and U.S. P.I 2) CRT (VICTORIA) made 2 announcements on May 17. a. branches were urged to send in names of their executives to of the Chinese Republic Jounral in San Francisco so that he could publish a list of all executives of CKT. b. It was decided at the 3rd general convention of CKT THATall members, in addition to paying the necessary annual donations to the headquarters at San Francisco, and Victoria, also had to give 50c annual donation to CKT in Shanghai- P.3 3) (VICTORIA). of Vancouver had sent a letter to the association requesting it to support him in protesting the regulations that demanded registration of all Chinese. He wanted to know whether the Can- adian born and the naturalized citizens were also subject to the new regulations He had planned to argue with the Canadian government in court about this point before June 30, otherwise, no remedy could be made. Seeing that Ambassador had not taken any action so far, thus wrote to ask for help from P.3 4) Ti Shing Shon Yee Association (VANCOUVER) had set up a drama club, cutives were elected. President: Exe- P.3 5) CBA (VICTORIA). The committee members for setting up the "Chinese Humiliation Day" held a 3rd general meeting on June 8 to discuss changing the Chinese Humiliation Day to June 30 suggested by & Consul General Lim. P.3 5) continued..It was finally decided that the date should remain unchanged, but Consul General Lim, being an external minister in Canada should give some face to Canda, however the Chinese at large should observe the day as planned. The Canadian government certainly had no right to intervene into this. The following decisions were also made:- a. The badges that were to be worn on the Chinese Muliliation Day should state "t- "i.e. in remembrance of July 1 as the day when the Chinese humiliation was marked. b. Students from the Chinese Public Schools in both VICTORIA and VANCOUVER should hold c. All overseas Chinese were advised to register with the Canadian Gov't. P.3 6) CBA (VICTORIA). An announcement was made on June 6 urging the Chinese to get registered with the government, by June 30. Otherwise they would be fined $500 or put into jail for 12 momths or both.
