JUNE 7 (SATURDAY) P.3 1) CKT (MONTREAL & QUEBEC). Warm welcome was given to who was there to raise funds for building the 5-Ancestors Temple in Shanghai. The mem- bers had decided to help to raise funds. P.3 2) CKT (VANCOUVER). announced that a birthday celebration for ancestor would be held on June 13 and a general meeting would be held on June 14 to admit new members. P.3 3) According to the government statistics released in 1921, there were 39,587 Chinese in Canada of which 23,533 resided in B.C. It was reported that at the present moment, about 22,000 Chinese had registered with the government and the deadline for registration was June 30. According to the new regulations, all Chinese should be able to produce a registration cert- ificate for inspection by June 30. Those unregistered Chinese immigrants would be fined $500 or sentenced to 2 months jail. Deportation would result for those who failed to give evidence of legal entry. In 1912, there were thousands of illegal Chinese immigrants. Thus, there was the belief that such registration regulations was desiggned to screen out these immigrants.
