- BY MAY 6 (TUESDAY) P.3 1) Another gambling joint in Powell Street was searched by the police. 4 Chinese and 11 white gamblers were arrested. The owner was Chinese. P.3 2) A Chinese reverend had asked for the permission of 2 city councils to teach the gospel to people on the streets in Chinatown. The city council had to think about this because it feared that public speech making in a foreign language on the streets, violence or trouble might crop up. However, the permission was finally granted upon the promise of the reverend that he would talk on only the gospel. P.3 3) Kuomintang. announced his withdrawal from h±x Kuomintang, due to the necessity to make a living.' P.3 4) CBA (WINDSOR). Announced its opening ceremony on May 18.
