MARCH 29 (Saturday) P.3 1) CBA (VANCOUVER). An announcement that up till the present, about $18,500 life insurance was bought by Chinese associations. It was a small amount compared to the Japanese. Those who had not yet joined the life insurance plan were requested to cooperate. Furthermore, a gneral meeting would be held on March 30. All Chinese associations who had offered to buy the insurance should send a representative to the meeting to sign the insurance plan. P.3 2) News from Victoria. was accompanied by to go about door-to-door donation. About $2400 was raised in 2 days. Names of th e donors were released. MARCH 31 (Monday) P.3 1) CBA (VANCOUVER)..Further to its election, there was no reply from members. wrote to say that it was in favor of election by public foting ( ) as opposed to election by localities. However, if election by localities had to be enforced, the number of executives chosen from each locality should be proportional to the number of persons who had paid the exit fee in that particular locality for the least 3 years. The reply from CBA was that since 7 locality associations had already sent in the candidates list for the final election, this xhsanii showed their support for such an election method. _ was advised to conform to the majority opinion for the time. Any amend- ments could be arranged for next year's election. Seeing that there was no reply, CBA sent another letter to and members on March 29, urging them to be operative by sending in the names of candidates by April 1. BY P.3 2) (VANCOUVER). Upon receiving the 2nd letter of CBA, a meeting was held on March 30 at CBA. 14 persons attended the meet- ing. The chairman and the secretary gave an account of CBA's letter regarding its final ejection. After that, there was voting on what election method should be used. 8 per- sons voted to be in favour of public voting system ( ) whereas 4 persons opposed this. Eventually, the secretary was asked to send a letter to CBA to fight for election by public voting. P.3 3) CBA (VANCOUVER). A meeting was held on March 30 to discuss the terms of the life insurance plan. Representatives from various associations were present to sign the insurance plan. A representative from went to the association and had offered to buy $1000 insuaance. So far, the Chinese had contributed $19,500.
