MARCH 28 (FRIDAY) P.3 1) CBA (VANCOUVER). According to the new Chinese immigration law, all immigrants had to register with the government which had certainly created a big problem to those old immigrants who came to Canada for the construction of the CPR. in 1881 and 1882 during which there was no issuance of entry certificates. , a representative from in New West, which was responsible for recruiting workers for the railway construction, requested CBA to inform Consul General Lim of their difficulties. Lim had discussed theproblem with the imm- r igration department which assumed the Chinese that registration certi- ficates would be issued to those who came to Canada during the period of railway construction and those who managed to give appropriate evidence of their stayi in Canada. P.3 2) The Vancouver bureau for raising funds for Kai Ping High School announced that a general meeting would be held on March 29 at CBA. All members would be welcome.
