January 18 (Friday) P.I 1) An article on the establishment of the Hung Mun 5 Ancestor Temple P.I 2) The Chinese Times urged all customers to pay their newspaper fee promptly and to notify them in case of change of address so as to maintain efficient service. P.3 3) The leader of the Chinese community in Vancouver iKHHi denied that there was the existence of tong-war. Minor disputes might exist among a few clan associations, however, it was not so severe as tong wars which prevailed in the U.S. The rumor of the existence of tong war could be based on 2 facts: a. On Jan. 6, a few executives reported to the police that their meeting had been disturbed by an unknown Chinese who tried to harm the executives. b. A Chinese waitress was charged for selling liquor. The accusation was made by a few Chinese. P.3 4) Shar Doey Mutual Society (Vancouver). Names of new executive: President.
