January 14 (Monday) P.I 1) 3 announcements were made by the Chinese Times: a. New letter moulds were made in order to make possible clearer printing. b. There would be a special news column to give prompt and accurate inf- formation concerning China. c. More people would be hired in various places to ensure faster and efficient communication. P.3 2) CKT (Vancouver). About 10 new members were admitted into the association on Jan. 12. P.3 3) Shar Diey Mutual Society (Vancouver). A report on its general convention that was held on Jan. 12. Speeches were made by representatives from var- ious branches. On Jan. 13, there was the office acceptance ceremony. A report on the events in 1923 was given by the past president, and the treasurer, . The new president was P.3. 4) 3 Chinese were charged for keeping and amoking narcotics drugs. P.3 5) 2 Chinese crewmen were charged for smuggling narcotics into Canada. P.3 6) A Chinese was charged for vagrancy. » , Cranbrook who went there P.3 7) News from CKT in and Fernie. Welcoming parties were given to to sell bonds for Tai Tung Newspaper and recruit shareholders for the realty of CKT. A number of shares and bonds were sold which was very encouraging in such places raha where there was a relatively small number of Chinese. P.3 8) CKT (Nanaimo) released the names of donors in the months of May to December 1923. P.3 9) CKT (Nanaimo) Names of executives in 1924. President: P.3 10) Dart Coon Club (Vancouver) thanked these branches of CKT & Dart Coon Clubs for the donation and toasts during its 5th anniversary celebration. P.3 11) CKT (Cranbrook) thanked all donors to the association in 1923. P.3 12) Chee Duck Tong (Vancouver) announced that in the meeting held on Jan.12, and had clarified their previous financial mis- understandings. The accusation against in court had been cancelled now.
