December 28 P2-3 1) CBA Van. announcement was made on Dec. 28. The 4 representatives already had consulted with Consul General Lim about the new income tax regulations and Lim said that he got a confirmation from the Income Tax office that the regulation only applied to manufacturers whereas other company owners were exempt. 2) CBA Van. A report on the interview between the 4 representatives and Lim who pointed out that all product company owners, merchant$, hawkers, and retail merchants had to prepare their bookkeeping for inspection for the income tax officers, however, the records did not have to be written in English or French. Only those big manufacturers (sawmillazK, or clothing) who earned more than $10,000 annually had to report their bookkeeping in either French or English, otherwise they would be fined $100/day. P3 3) News from Victoria. A Chinese gardener was murdered on Dec. 27. There seemed to be a fight in the house where the victim was found. Some suggested that the murder might be a consequence of tong war, however, the police thought it was only a robbery. 4) Ti Shing Shon Yee Assoc. Vancouver.
