December 17. P3 1) News from Ottawa on Dec. 15th. The vice immigration minister decided to discuss the immigrationpolicy with the CPR and CN representatives on Dec. 17 in Mantreal. The proposal that was brought up by CPR previously would be discussed. Also, consideration would be made to the proposal of about reducing the travelling fees for the immigrants so as to encouaage more immigration which would certainly lead to better commercial and economic development. 2) Dart Coon Club Vancouver. A general meeting would be held on Dec. 23 to clear and balance the financial account of the association. Also an office acceptance ceremony by new executives and welcoming of new members would take place on that day. On Dec. 25, there would be a 5th anniversary celebration party. Pre-registration for the banquet was necessary. Names could be sent to the secretary. 3) Chee Kung Tong Vancouver. Names of executives after the preliminary election. A final election would take place on Dec. 23rd. 4) (Vancouver) announced that it was recognized as the head- quarter for all Lim clan members in Canada. The constitution had been set up and it was read to the members in the general meeting on Dec. 9. Copies of the constitution would soon be sent to various places for ref- erence. Due to the need to have sound financial back-up, the association would collect foundation fees, annual fees and exit charity fees from its members. The receipts for various payments would be obtained from varous stores operated by the Lim clan members. Those who had not yet given their payment should abide by the constitution by giving prompt payment. P3 5) announced on Dec. 17 that there was an office space for rent at 158 E. Fender. Those interested should go to bid for the office on Dec.23. 6) Dart Coon Club Cranbrook. The announcement was made to thank those who had donated to the association. 7) CBA Van. & Vic. made the following announcement: the proposal which prohibited the Chinese from employing female whites and Indians was certainly an insult to the Chinese community. If the proposal was passed, the future of the CMnese in B.C. would be fatal. CBA had been trying their best to fight for the rights of the Chinese. It was hoped that the Chinese could help and cooperate by giving generous donations. Money could be sent to CBA in both Vancouver and Victoria. 8) CKT Lethbridge. The construction of the association's building was completed, however, there was still some renovation to be made which would take 3 weeks. It was hoped that those who had not yet paid their donation could cooperate by giving prompt payment. The sketch of the association's building was posted on the paper, too. Names of shareholders for the building of the association were relreased.
