December 1 P3 1) CBA Vancouver. An executive meeting was held on Nov. 30 during which the president gave a report on his previous meeting with the H.Q. concerning the protest against the prohibition of the Chinese from employing female Indian and white workers. A few decisions were reached after the report of : (a) CBA of both Vic. and Van. should send a letter of protest to the provin- cial government; (b) & would join the representatives of CBA (Victoria) in a meeting with the provincial government that would be held on December 5; (c) A lawyer would be hired to influence the members of the provincial government, hoping to gain their support re the protest; (d) Fund raising would be brought about; 3 agreements were made with the H.Q. i. The executive of CBA in Vic. & Van. would take theprimary role in this protest campaign; ii. The 2 associations were responsible for fund raising; iii. all funds were raised to be used for this protest only. (P.S. It was a pity that only 9 executives attended the meeting. This showed their indifferent attitude towards protecting the rights of their fellow Chinese.) P3 2) Chee Kung Tong (St. Catherines) 9 new members were admitted into the assoc. on Nov. 10. A fifth anniversary celebration was held on Nov. 11. The flags of China and Britain were raised. 3) Chee Kung Tong Victoria. , seeing that he had been chosen as a candidate for the post as chief executive for the external affairs of the association, requested to have his name cancelled due to some personal problem.
