- Description
- August 8 Pi 1) A comment on the gradual closing down of the Chinese embassies due to lack of financial supprt from the Peking government. The embassy in Ottawa faced the same financial crisis and was about to close down, too. It was thus hoped that the overseas Chinese Canadians could raise funds to support the embassy. P2 2) The Chinese laundrymen were condemned for working in the after hours. The city council had thus passed a IHW which demanded that the curtains in the windows of the laundromats should be drawn for convenient inspection. Since some Chinese laundrymen were fonnd working after they had closed the door for business, the above act could ensure that they would not work overtime. 3) News from Victoria. The Charity School which was established for protest against the policy of school segregation began again on August 6 after the summer holiday. The reading room of Chee Kung Tong had also become a classroom.
