June 23 P3 1) A Canadian published an article in the Province to attack who had written an article concerning the injustice that was faced by the overseas Chinese in Canada. 2) News from Toronto. There was a revival of the case of prohibition of employ- ment of white girls in Chinese restaurants. The association for protest the restrictive immigration law in had sent a letter to the H.Q. on June 13 to ask for help because the business license of a Chinese restaurant was withheld by the city council due to employment of white girls. In addition, in a meeting held by the Women's Assoc. of Ontario, the question of prohibiting the employment of white girls was brought up for discussion. Thus, if the Chinese did not cooperate to check such ideas from spreading, the consequences would be drastic. P3 2) had sent & to the H.Q. to discuss this problem. The H.Q. would hold a meeting in the afternoon to discuss the plan for protest. 3) The Chinese in Fernie had raised about $90 to support the protest against the restrictive immigration law. 4) The H.Q. for protest against the restrictive immigration law received a telegram from the representative committee in Ottawa, asking them to organize a demonstration by the overseas Chinese over Canada. A meeting had been held to discuss the proposal and it was decided that such a demonstration should not be carried out. The H.Q. had sent , , , , & a lawyer to Ottawa to help the representative committee to protest.
