May 16 Wednesday P.3 1) of Vancouver telegramed to Ambassador Chau and the Overseas Chinese representatives in Ottawa on May 15 asking them to presist on pro- testing against the restrictive law and if their appeal was disregarded, they could just refuse to accept the law. P3 2) News from Ottawa. The Overseas Chinese representatives had already talked to a few members in the House of Lords about abolishing the restrictive immigration law. Also had helped by negot- iating with some party leaders. Proposals had been presented to the Invest- igation Committee who would call for a meeting on Monday. It was hoped that the rpresentative could attend the parliament meeting so as to voice the opinions of the Chinese. The Chinese representative committee had also sent & to Montreal to consult with the president of the CPR Co. who would then introduce them to the leader of certain party. The Chinese representatives who were sent to Ottawa to protest against the restrictive immigration law were as follows: (Victoria); , (Toronto); , (Montreal); (Ottawa); (Calgary). P3 3) An association for protest against the restrictive immigration law was set up in Prince Rupert. Executives were elected. 4) was recruiting shareholders for in Calgary and Saskatoon.
