- The CBA of Vancouver held a banquet for Ambassador Chau during which he made a speech, saying that the Canadian government was willing to revise the law. The Chinese should persist in their ptotest otherwise revision of thelaw would not be possible. 2) had gone to Medicine Hat. 3) News from Victoria. It was reported that the Chinese miners had been accused by the shites for being responsible for the coal mine explosion in Cumberland (in February) in the English newspaper. A Chinese miner was attacked for smoking inside the mine and thus leading to the explosion. However, it was now found tht the white miners were in fact responsible for the explosion and that they wereputting the blame on the Chinese so as to exclude them from the mining business.
