April 26 P2 1) A Canadian organized Farm Products Assoc. attempted to force the Chinese farmers into the association, the constitution of which was that the Chinese farmers hd no right to sell their grown products. All their grown farm products were to be sent to the association for sale and no fixed amount of money was given back to the Chinese farmers. The Chinese farmers in Vernon refused to sign the contract and the representatives put the blame on theinterpreter ( ) who was later accused by them as selling liquor. The Chinese farmers in Vernon and Armstrong were furious and they went on strike. & were sent by to the CBA of Vancouver to ask for help. The CBA held a meeting and decided that a lawyer would be hired to protect the Chinese farmers from being dragged into the association. 2) An assoc. for protest against the new Chinese immigration law was set up in Calgary on April 22. Chairman: 3) News from Victoria. 33 Chinese were arrested for gambling in a club. 4) announced that a remembrance celebratio would be held for on March 21 (Chinese calendar). P3 5) urged the.members to pay the foundation money, otherwise they would be exempt from the priority of the association. Pll 6) Details on the new immigration law.
