- Description
- April 19 P3 1) The CBA of Vancouver held a general meeting for all Chinese last night to discuss plans to protest against the harsh immigration law. The rep- resentatives of various Chinese associations agreed to set up a separate association for protest. ( ). Another general meeting for all Chinese would be held on April 19 to elect ex- ecutives and assign posts to them. 2) wrote to denounce CBA on April 18 for not replying to his letter earlier. He asserted that he had warned of theforthcoming harsh immigration law on March 21 but he got no reply. If action were taken earlier, revision would probably be made on the harsh law. He further den- ounced CBA for prohibiting those Chinese who were responsible for the English law suit from involving with the protest against the immigration law. (Such a decision was made in the executive meeting on April 15.) He condemned CBA for such decision because he believed that every Clinese had the right to get involved in matters that were concerned with the Chinese community at large. 3) The CBA of Vancouver wrote to request the government inspector on April 17 to investigate the case in which reverend attacked the Chinatown for permitting obscene acts since a nude white girl was found amusing the people there. The Chinese community was in rage upon hearing such an accusation and hoped that clarification of such a rumor could be made.
