Description

March 31 P3 1) accompanied to Nanaimo, Cumberland, Duncan to raise funds for Tai Tung Newspaper. 2) Ambassador Chau sent a letter to of on March 28 saying that he had already appealed to Ottawa with regard to the new immigration law and had also informed the Chinese government about it. P3 3) Ambassador Chau made an announcement on March 30, warning the overseas Chinese not to force their fellow members to donate money for the protest against the new immigration law. He hoped that the donation should be vol- untary instead by force. P3 4) The Asians were forbidden to buy a piece of farming land in (near New Westminster) by the government because of their growing influence in farming. 5) The parents of the Chinese students had discussed with the Education Dept. on March 21 about thepolicy of school segregation. The Education Dept. gave a long talk on why the policy was enforced and it was by no means a form of discrimination against the Chinese.
