Description
February 28 P3 1) A Canadian lumber company owner denounced the policy of chasing out the Asian workers in the lumber industry. He said that there were about 3000 to 4000 Asian lumber workers in B.C. It would be a great loss and inconven- ience for the companies if they were dismissed. Besides, many white workers were relunctant to do the work that the Asian workers were doing and they would not accept the low pay that the Asians received. Thus, if the whites were to replace the Asians more money had to be spent and that the whites had better start learning to do the work that the Asians were doing. P3 2) News from Ottawa. About 585 drug criminals were arrested between October/22 and January/23 and 431 of them were Chinese. Most of the Chinese crminals were arrested in B.C.
