December 22, 1922 (Friday) P. 3 (1) A Chinese paid $15,000 deposit to a Canadian for a piece of land which was worth $65,000. He intended to pay the rest by installment. He later asked for postponement of the next payment due to insufficient funds. The Canadian at first agreed, but later he sued the Chinese for delay in payment. The judge was on the side of that Canadian by saying that he had the right to take back the land and that the deposit would not be refunded. P. 3 (2) - /\3i Company which was organized by C Vi-i W-Cvu-~Tf M^ called for a general meeting on December 23 so ^ J that the shareholders could elect a president for the company. P. 3 (3) A Chinese was caught for smuggling 192 cans of opium into Canada. He was fined $500, was sentenced to one year imprisonment and was then to be deported.
