October 7, 1922 (Saturday) P.3 (1) Ambassador Lira announced that the celebration party was to be held on October 10 at the Vancouver Hotel from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. p.3 (2) The Canton Public Hospital sent a letter of thanks to the Overseas Chinese in Canada for donating money for extending the hospital, p.3 (3) An association for dealing with the affairs of the Overseas Chinese was set up in China. Investigation teams were usually sent out to find out the living conditions of the Chinese abroad. Communication centres were also set up in Overseas countries in order to provide constant "^ ~ -i contact with China. ' 4 tL. -tji was one of the investigation committee and he was responsible for the communication centre in Vancouver. (This announcement was made by the Chinese government on August 27, 1922). P.3 (4) News from Coquitlam: The Women's Association held a meeting on October 5 during which a Canadian woman emphasized that if no action was taken to forbid the Asians from coming into Canada, soon they would take over the economy of Canada. By then, the Canadians had to be dependent on the Asians. P.3 (5) News from Victoria: A number of prominent Chinese held a meeting on October 5 to discuss the plan of setting up special schools for the Chinese so that they did not have to mix with the whites.
