- Description
- October 6, 1922, Friday P.3 (1) The B.C. Laundrymenfs Association complained that the Chinese Laundrymen were exploiting them by working after hours. They demanded that the police take action. They pointed out that a $5 fine or the maximum $50 fine was really very lenient punishment. Strict laws should be enforced to stop all after hour work. The head police officer stressed that it was quite difficult to catch the Chinese laundrymen for working after hours because they usually lived inside the shop. P.3 (2) News from Victoria: The School Administration Department announced that by Monday, if the Chinese students still insisted on not going to school, that the department would close down all Chinese schools and that all Chinese students had to wait till January for the next enrollment. (3) The Chinese Embassy of Vancouver announced on October 5 that a celebration ceremony was to be held on October 10. (4) An announcement was made on October 1, 1922 by - W^ W ^ ' K, ! of Victoria about the election of executives for the coming year. The dates for the initial and final election were set.
