Description
August 7, 1922 (Monday) P.3 (1) The liberal party of Vancouver held a meeting on August 4 to discuss the exclusion of the Asians. The members were all in favor of imposing restrictive immigration laws on the Asians. They also planned to request the government to forbid the Asians from buying lands. The reason was that the Asians were obstacles to the whites. Moreover, their low standard of living and cheap labor in both industries and farming created intense competition for the whites. Thus, in order to safeguard the rights of the Canadians, the Asians had to be screened out. P.3 (2) ~-v^^T ^^ \ 7JQ i * ?\ held a second meeting on August 5 during which different posts were assigned to the executives. Also, it was suggested that all proposals were to be written down first and to be discussed in the next meeting. Ambassador Chau was also to be informed about the establishment of the association.
